Local Lotteries

Updates

Hi everyone,

It’s finally arrived! I’m very happy and relieved to announce that the first draw results are:

6, 8, 14, 18

There were no winners so the money will rollover.

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported the Isle of Lewis Lottery. So now that the first draw is over it is changing slightly. There will now be 5 guaranteed winners every fortnight. It won’t be a lot of money, just 5% of the jackpot amount. But it splits the money up to more people and the whole point of this is to keep as much of the money in the community as possible.

Finally, I would just like to apologise to everyone who wanted to buy a ticket this week but the problems with PayPal stopped them from doing so. I am working every minute I can to fix this. I have found another payment gateway and I have agreed on very good fees, only 1% higher than the original fees. I will leave the direct payments in as it means the lottery has 100% of the money going back into the community but I understand that not everyone is willing to do this method of payment.

Good luck to everyone and please remember to vote in the community fund!

Robbie

Local Lotteries

So tickets are now on sale for the Isle of Lewis Lottery and are doing much better than anticipated! Thank you so much to everyone supporting!

Since tickets have gone on sale I have been having ideas for how to make the lottery even better. These changes will take effect after the first draw.

  • The lottery is changing from choosing 4 numbers between 1 and 20 to choosing 4 numbers between 1 and 15!
  • This will change the odds from 1 in 4,845 to 1 in 1,365.
  • The jackpot will now be spilt into 75% and 5 guaranteed winners of 5% which makes up the other 25%.
  • The community fund will give money to the highest voted on the poll every two draws now (once a month).
  • Direct debits are coming soon I promise!

NO PROFITS, NEARLY-NO COSTS, GREAT USE OF FUNDS.

Local Lotteries has costs of 3p per £1.50 ticket. This is a card payment fee in order to make transactions secure and keep everyone's money safe. This means Local Lotteries costs will not rise no matter how much it grows!

Many people have recently been asking why draws are only every two weeks.

This was decided when researching the negative aspects of lotteries. The regular draws that other lotteries provide can often promote negative gambling habits in some people and in order to avoid people succumbing to these dangerous habits, it was decided that spacing out the draws to fortnightly could help combat these issues.

This is also one of the main reasons Local Lotteries will never offer scratch cards or any other type of similar instant-result game.
